Job Description:

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Supervises loading/unloading, packing, crating, palletizing including banding block/brace equipment and vehicles for transport in the Freight Section. Ensures shipping documentation is complete, accurate and accompanying equipment, and that it is processed and filed. Responsibilities also include constructing crates and pallets, and other shipping materials. Perform operator maintenance and safety check on MHE.



Check import/export documentation to determine cargo contents and classify goods into different fee or tariff groups, using a tariff coding system.
Contact vendors and/or claims adjustment departments to resolve problems with shipments or contact service depots to arrange for repairs.
Coordinates with shippers, commercial carriers, and other activities to resolve discrepancies
Determine method of shipment and prepare bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents
Escort delivery trucks to shipping doors or designated marshaling areas and help load and unload goods safely.
Direct or participate in cargo loading to ensure completeness of load and even distribution of weight.
Estimate freight or postal rates and record shipment costs and weight.
Selects most economical and advantageous rates, routes, and modes to meet port requirements or consumer needs.
Operate hand or power trucks in performing freight duties.
Performs other duties as requested.

Knowledge in the operation of the FedEx, Electronic Transportation Acquisition (ETA), GFM, CMOS and AMS systems
Knowledge of hazardous materials handling, shipping, storage and labeling requirements
Skilled in applying math fundamentals


Certified and trained in DOD 4500. 9-R, AR 56-3, 49 CFR parts 200-299, 29 CFR and 40 CFR

5 years of transportation movement/freight experience strongly preferred. Management experience strongly preferred. Prefer warrant officer or enlisted in the grade of E-7 or higher. Secret clearance may be required. High school diploma required.
